In today’s visually-dominated society, understanding the true depth of writing requires us to awaken our other senses. In order to succeed, every part of the body must be actively involved. It is at this point that the authentic learning experience commences. Engaging all our senses, the vastness of space, the illumination of light, the refreshing air, and the sensations within our body, all contribute to our quest for the Truth. Here lies the true meaning of calligraphy.
This calligraphy course extends beyond mastering techniques and creating visually appealing letters. The Word of God becomes a tangible form of art, allowing us to engage in a renewed conversation with Him. Back in the Middle Ages, our church fathers stumbled upon this and crafted an incredible technique of contemplation that remains relevant even today.
I’ve developed two types of calligraphy courses: traditional and online.
During the meetings in the traditional type of course, we are introduced to the basics of calligraphy through demonstrations, following well-known school methods. My role as a mentor entails carefully monitoring each stage of the course, offering assistance in mastering techniques and providing valuable insights for advancing development and workflow.

While developing an online course during the covid, I realized that providing a visual demonstration of the basic strokes on the screen significantly eases learning. With this approach, there is a heightened sense of confidence, enabling deeper conversations and more effective mentoring. The course is not pre-recorded but realtime online meeting.

This calligraphy course is meticulously designed to recreate an authentic and immersive writing experience. Although we don’t have the same artistic skills, writing is still one of the primary and innate forms of communication and learning, so everyone has the opportunity to experience this wonderful activity.

• simple dark ink of any kind
• broad nib (any size between 0 and 2)
• comfortable nib holder
• thicker white paper (above 180 gsm)
• dry and wet wipes
The preferred app is Microsoft Teams. Skype and Zoom are also very good.
